LCD Vs Plasma

When choosing your flat panel television it’s difficult to understand the differences between the two major technologies on the market, LCD and plasma. At first glance it can be hard to see the difference between an LCD and plasma, but it is important to understand the differences before choosing your next television.
The main things to consider will be the use of the television, if you’re looking to connect up a video games console or a computer to your television then you’re probably best off with an LCD, meanwhile if you’re hoping to catch a lot of fast moving action such as sports and movies then a plasma will probably give you the best viewing experience. This is because plasma’s can suffer something called a burn in, which occurs when a static image is left on screen for a prolonged period of time, for example when pausing a video game, LCD’s don’t have this problem. In contrast to that, LCD’s can sometimes struggle to keep up with the pace of fast moving action, where as plasmas can handle this with ease.
The other main thing to consider is where the television will be placed, LCD’s are best for bright rooms, rooms with a lot of windows/natural light as the screen surface isn’t as glossy as a plasma generally speaking. Plasmas are better suited to darker rooms/evening viewing for the aforementioned reason.
In terms of how long the two technologies will last it’s expected that both technologies have a similar life span of around 60,000 hours viewing time, approximately 15 years for an average household.
